Introduction

The Somaliland Youth Ambassadors Council is a dynamic and passionate force driven by the unwavering commitment of Somaliland's youth. Established with a clear vision, we are dedicated to championing the rights, dreams, and well-being of our people. As ambassadors of Somaliland, we actively participate in youth dialogues and international forums, advocating for the global recognition of our beloved country. Through our work, we foster unity, resilience, and purpose, weaving a future where the youth of Somaliland play a pivotal role in the nation’s growth and the broader African continent.

Aim

Our organization is dedicated to empowering young ambassadors who represent our unrecognized government. Through strategic engagement at international conferences and dialogues, we aim to secure recognition for our nation. By fostering diplomatic skills, advocating for our cause, and building bridges of understanding, we strive to transform our status from unrecognized to respect on the global stage. Together, we believe that youth can be catalysts for positive change, shaping a more just and equitable world.

Objectives

Our main objective is to empower and connect Somaliland’s youth and global young leaders to foster cross-cultural understanding, positive change, and peacebuilding through knowledge exchange, collaboration, and community impact.

Specific Objectives

• To raise awareness about our unrecognized government’s situation and challenges.
• To provide a platform for young people from different regions to explore global issues and exchange ideas and perspectives on diplomacy and international relations.
• To foster cross-cultural understanding and promote peaceful cooperation among young people from diverse backgrounds.
• To build networks and connections among young leaders, diplomats, and scholars for future collaborations and partnerships.
• To empower the youth by organizing and conducting projects that improve their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through instilling forward-looking ideas that would result in positive change in their respective communities.
• To foster long lasting friendships and understanding between Somaliland youth and global youth.
• To promote the presence and the role of young people as positive actors of change in peace-building processes.

Impact and Achievements

• Providing Opportunities for Global Engagement: We have enabled over 150 young people from Somaliland to participate in international conferences, summits, and forums, giving them the platform to engage with global issues and network with international leaders.

• Raising Awareness on Somaliland's Sovereignty: We have educated and raised awareness among over 100 individuals about the ongoing challenges Somaliland faces regarding the loss of its sovereignty and the pathways toward achieving global recognition.

• Empowering Young Graduates with Essential Skills: Through targeted leadership and personal development programs, we have empowered hundreds of young school graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in universities and in their future careers. Our training programs focus on providing practical and academic skills needed for the global job market.

• Facilitating Participation in the African Youth Development Leadership Conference (AYDLC):We have provided over 60 individuals with orientation and guidance on how to participate in the African Youth Development Leadership Conference (AYDLC) held in Ethiopia. This initiative has helped many Somaliland youth gain invaluable exposure to pan-African issues, leadership skills, and networking opportunities.

• Expanding Regional Partnerships through MoUs: We recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to send a delegation of 10 youth representatives from Somaliland to the Southern African Youth Council in Botswana. This collaboration strengthens regional ties and offers our youth the opportunity to engage with their Southern African counterparts, exchange ideas, and contribute to continental youth development efforts.

These efforts have had a profound impact on the youth of Somaliland, helping to shape them into informed, skilled, and passionate advocates for their country’s future.
